Following the mass sack of
medical practitioners in Lagos
State and the subsequent
posting of armed security
personnel to Lagos hospitals,
the Nigeria Medical Association
(NMA), Abuja branch, has
condemned the move.
Speaking during a press
briefing in Abuja, the NMA
chairman in the FCT, Dr.
Nicholas Baamlong, said: "We
condemn the Gestapo move of
His Exellency Babatunde Raji
Fashola’s style of using armed
personnel carriers and heavy
armed security forces to
occupy the hospitals in Lagos
State."
He urged the Lagos State
government to unconditionally
recall and reinstate all sacked
doctors within the shortest
possible time.
He frowned at the Lagos
State’s refusal to resolve the
crises, stressing that this
would affect the image of the
state government.
Dr. Nicholas also expressed
surprise over the graveyard
silence of the Lagos State
House of Assembly and
traditional rulers.
