FOLLOWING the delay by the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, to constitute his cabinet, the people of Kogi Central senatorial district are now at a loggerheads over who becomes the Secretary to State Government.

The governor had zoned the position to the district, but the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Abdu-llahi Bello, was at loggerheads with some top political stakeholders from the zone over choice of candidate.

Sources close to the state government said the speaker nominated the former chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Zubair Adagu, but the group loyal to Alhaji AbdulRasaq Kutepa was in support of Honourable AbdulKarim Salihu, a former member of the House of Representatives, also from the same local government area.

With the development, Governor Wada was at a crossroad over who to choose between the two nominees.

The speaker, it was gathered, was claiming that since the position of SSG was zoned to the zone, he should be allowed to pick the nominee.

But another group alleged that there were more qualified people that could do well, considering the strategic role of SSG in any government.
