The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday filed a notice of appeal before the Court of Appeal in Abuja against the ruling of an Abuja High Court that acquitted and discharged former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole and his erstwhile deputy, Usman Nafada.
Justice Suleiman has held that Bankole and Nafada have no case to answer over charge of illegal procurement and misappropriation of N40 billion loans brought against them by the EFCC, because the commission failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused.
In a notice of appeal filed by the EFCC lawyer, Festus Keyamo, the anti-graft agency has asked the appeal court to remit the case to the lower court for retrial before another judge.
